Celebrate the life and dreams of
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
by giving just a small portion of your time and a little bit of money.
Join us Monday, January 15th for the
MLK Ending Hunger Meal Packaging Event
with the HHRLA (Hingham Hull Religious Leaders Assoc.)
at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hingham.
The average American family of 4 spends $3,700 celebrating Christmas—whether or not they’re Christian—on gifts, food, and frivolity.
If every such family in New England who has food gave $47 (1.3% of $3,700) and packaged meals for 18 minutes A YEAR, everyone else gets to eat every day.
Per person, that’s 3 cents and 3 seconds of effort daily!
Here are two ways to help:

A note from Jessica Badiner – CSS Social Action
The Rabbi has asked me to round up volunteers and help raise money so Congregation Sha’aray Shalom can participate in a great program to pack lunches for local people during MLK day on Jan 15. Many of the faith communities in the south shore are expected to participate. It promises to be a fun event, and everyone is welcomed! Kids, neighbors, friends, if they can pack a lunch, we wanna see 'em there. They don't have to be members of the temple.
For every $500 we raise, we can have 10-12 participants in the packing lines. The money will go towards purchasing the food we will pack. Rabbi has offered to subsidize the participation fee for the first group of 10-12. We hope to get your participation even if you can't chip in any money. But if we all contribute approximately $40/per person, we can bring more people and feed more people!
Please let me know if you are interested, and how many sets of helpful hands you can bring to pack lunches. I believe Jan 5 is the deadline to give them our count. So please spread the word!
All the best,
CSS Congregant and member of the CSS Social Action Committee
